Marriage History
Jackson and Gordon were married on September 5, 1989 in Reno, Nevada. According to Jackson’s autobiography, the marriage was both unplanned and against her will.[2] She later stated in an interview that Gordon tricked her into the marriage by brainwashing her into believing that her family was going to attempt to kidnap her.[citation needed] What started as a business relationship soon turned into an abusive partnership; Gordon was arrested twice for second-degree assault against Jackson.[3] Jackson also filed a gender-based lawsuit against Gordon before filing for Divorce.[4]
Gordon repeatedly used Jackson for a quick profit. In 1997, he attempted to force her to strip at a club in Cleveland. She refused and returned home to be beaten.[5] It was at this point that Jackson left Gordon and immediately filed for divorce and a domestic violence injunction.
Gordon’s violations of court orders
As a part of the original petition, it was requested that Gordon submit financial documents and all records of any property he owned. He exercised his right to not self-incriminate himself and refused to submit the documents to the court. His attorney admitted to this, and also admitted that Gordon had sold properties that he and Jackson mutually owned without Jackson’s permission, despite the fact that the court had previously ordered that he not sell any of these properties until further instruction.[6]
Return of Jackson’s property
From the final divorce decree, Gordon was ordered to return all of Jackson’s fur coats, photographs, videos, and furnishings. He was also ordered to forego his rights to any of Jackson’s contracts that she signed during the marriage, including those with Sony Music Entertainment, BMG Music, Playboy Entertainment, and Penguin/Dutton Books. Jackson was awarded full ownership of the apartment where the couple resided during their marriage.[7] According to public record, Jackson still lives in the apartment today.
From Jack Gordon -Wikipedia:
Early life and career
Gordon was born in Springfield, Illinois to Abraham Gordon (a Russian immigrant) and Faye Stein (an Illinois native). In the 1970s Gordon ran arcades at Circus Circus in Las Vegas. He got into trouble with gaming officials and served time in prison from that felony conviction. He then moved to Los Angeles and bought controlling interest in a massage parlor called Circus Maximus in West Hollywood. The massage parlor became notorious as a place where one could get “more than a massage”. Because of this reputation it was a very popular place and made an incredible amount of money, mostly cash. Jack then bought two other massage parlors, one in Signal Hill and the other in Costa Mesa, California. Jack became very rich from this and he had very little to do with the day-to-day operation of the massage parlors. All three businesses were either closed because of city zoning changes or by police investigations. He then decided to broaden his horizons and go into the Star making business. He approached several starlets in his employ but they balked at the 50 percent he demanded to be their manager. He bragged that he had started out as a carney and surrounded himself with people from that tradition. An article in the late 70’s in a Long Beach newspaper claimed that two of his partners from his Las Vegas days had turned up murdered and that Gordon was the prime suspect.
Marriage to La Toya Jackson
In the early 1980s, Gordon began to manage La Toya Jackson alongside her father, Joseph. In the late 1980s, he took over her management completely. He married her in Reno, Nevada on September 5, 1989, claiming that it was for her own protection against her supposedly violent family; Jackson claims that this was both unplanned and against her wishes. From this point forward, Jackson lost all contact with her family and eventually wrote a book called La Toya: Growing up in the Jackson Family, which accused her father of physical abuse.[1]
Gordon hired bodyguards to watch La Toya constantly and would never allow her to speak to or see her family. La Toya’s father Joseph stated in his book The Jacksons that he believed Gordon brainwashed La Toya and made her fearful of her own family. [1] Under Gordon’s management, Jackson’s career declined, beginning with her spread in Playboy, which she now claims was forced upon her by Gordon. In 1993, in their New York home, Gordon beat her and she suffered bruises. He was arrested and then released. In 1997, Gordon was forcing Jackson to appear in a hardcore pornography video, at which point she decided she’d had enough. Allegedly, Jackson phoned brother Randy Jackson to come pick her up while Gordon was out. Days later, La Toya filed for divorce and remained living in Las Vegas. [2]

Jacksons invite LaToya
back home after reported
assault on her by husband
Though they haven’t been on the best of terms in several years, America’s first family of music, the Jackson clan, recently extended an open invitation to entertainer LaToya Jackson to return home after her husband beat her up.
Jackson’s husband, Jack Gordon, 54, was arrested in New York at their posh Manhattan apartment after police received a report of an assault. News accounts said Jackson was stretched out on the white marble floor, blood trickling from her lower lip when police arrived.
A spokesperson for the Jackson family said, “They are very concerned about LaToya’s mental and physical health and she is always welcome to come homeGordon was charged with two counts of second-degree assault after allegedly hitting her with a dining room chair, police said. He was arraigned on assault and weapon charges and released on his own recognizance after telling the court he undergoes cancer treatment at Mount Sinai Hospital five days a week.
The 36-year-old singer, who starred last year in a production of Paris’ Moulin Rouge nightclub, was treated at Lenox Hill Hospital for injuries to her face, legs, arms and back, police spokeswoman Sgt. Tina Mohrmann said.
The Gordons, who were married almost four year ago, have described their relationship as platonic. But brother Jermaine Jackson, has maintained in the past and still does, that Gordon brainwashed his sister and was at the crux of her fallout with the family.
In a New York Post article, mother Katherine Jackson said from Los Angeles, “I fear for my daughter. She’s afraid of him.” According to the article, brother Michael Jackson, dubbed “the world’s greatest entertainer,” had tried to warn her that there was some impending danger.
After learning of the attack on his sister, the pop music idol offered to fly her any place so they could meet to talk, the Post said. While it was uncertain whether or not he would go to be at her side during this ordeal, brothers Jermaine and Jackie were reportedly on their way to New York to rescue her.
While no cause was given for the battle, Gordon told officers at the scene, “We had an argument. I hit her. The only reason I hit her was because she came at me with a knife. I have cancer,” according to Asst. District Attorney E. Loewy.
Loewy said Jackson did have a knife, but was wielding it in self defense.
Doctors had to put stitches in Jackson’s lip to close the gash, which reportedly was caused when Gordon kicked her in the face with his shoe, said Officer Carlos Lopez. She also was treated for abrasions and swelling after being hit several times with the chair, Lopez said.
Gerald Lefcourt, Gordon’s attorney, said, “Ms. Jackson told me she would elect to have it (the case) in family court and to end the criminal proceeding.” But Loewy said the entertainer has not decided to drop the criminal charges against her spouse.
If found guilty of both counts, Gordon could be sentenced to a maximum of seven years.
