My Childhood, My Sabbath, My Freedom

Comments 05 August 2009

by MICHAEL JACKSON

What I wanted more than anything was to be ordinary. The Sabbath was when I could be.

There was one day a week, however, that I was able to escape the stages of Hollywood and the crowds of the concert hall. That day was the Sabbath. In all religions, the Sabbath is a day that allows and requires the faithful to step away from the everyday and focus on the exceptional. I learned something about the Jewish Sabbath in particular early on from Rose, and my friend Shmuley further clarified for me how, on the Jewish Sabbath, the everyday life tasks of cooking dinner, grocery shopping, and mowing the lawn are forbidden so that humanity may make the ordinary extraordinary and the natural miraculous. Even things like shopping or turning on lights are forbidden. On this day, the Sabbath, everyone in the world gets to stop being ordinary.

But what I wanted more than anything was to be ordinary. So, in my world, the Sabbath was the day I was able to step away from my unique life and glimpse the everyday.

Sundays were my day for “Pioneering,” the term used for the missionary work that Jehovah’s Witnesses do. We would spend the day in the suburbs of Southern California, going door to door or making the rounds of a shopping mall, distributing our Watchtower magazine. I continued my pioneering work for years and years after my career had been launched.

Up to 1991, the time of my Dangerous tour, I would don my disguise of fat suit, wig, beard, and glasses and head off to live in the land of everyday America, visiting shopping plazas and tract homes in the suburbs. I loved to set foot in all those houses and catch sight of the shag rugs and La-Z-Boy armchairs with kids playing Monopoly and grandmas baby-sitting and all those wonderfully ordinary and, to me, magical scenes of life. Many, I know, would argue that these things seem like no big deal. But to me they were positively fascinating.

The funny thing is, no adults ever suspected who this strange bearded man was. But the children, with their extra intuition, knew right away. Like the Pied Piper of Hamlin, I would find myself trailed by eight or nine children by my second round of the shopping mall. They would follow and whisper and giggle, but they wouldn’t reveal my secret to their parents. They were my little aides. Hey, maybe you bought a magazine from me. Now you’re wondering, right?

Sundays were sacred for two other reasons as I was growing up. They were both the day that I attended church and the day that I spent rehearsing my hardest. This may seem against the idea of “rest on the Sabbath,” but it was the most sacred way I could spend my time: developing the talents that God gave me. The best way I can imagine to show my thanks is to make the very most of the gift that God gave me.

Church was a treat in its own right. It was again a chance for me to be “normal.” The church elders treated me the same as they treated everyone else. And they never became annoyed on the days that the back of the church filled with reporters who had discovered my whereabouts. They tried to welcome them in. After all, even reporters are the children of God.

When I was young, my whole family attended church together in Indiana. As we grew older, this became difficult, and my remarkable and truly saintly mother would sometimes end up there on her own. When circumstances made it increasingly complex for me to attend, I was comforted by the belief that God exists in my heart, and in music and in beauty, not only in a building. But I still miss the sense of community that I felt there–I miss the friends and the people who treated me like I was simply one of them. Simply human. Sharing a day with God.

When I became a father, my whole sense of God and the Sabbath was redefined. When I look into the eyes of my son, Prince, and daughter, Paris, I see miracles and I see beauty. Every single day becomes the Sabbath. Having children allows me to enter this magical and holy world every moment of every day. I see God through my children. I speak to God through my children. I am humbled for the blessings He has given me.

There have been times in my life when I, like everyone, has had to wonder about God’s existence. When Prince smiles, when Paris giggles, I have no doubts. Children are God’s gift to us. No–they are more than that–they are the very form of God’s energy and creativity and love. He is to be found in their innocence, experienced in their playfulness.

My most precious days as a child were those Sundays when I was able to be free. That is what the Sabbath has always been for me. A day of freedom. Now I find this freedom and magic every day in my role as a father. The amazing thing is, we all have the ability to make every day the precious day that is the Sabbath. And we do this by rededicating ourselves to the wonders of childhood. We do this by giving over our entire heart and mind to the little people we call son and daughter. The time we spend with them is the Sabbath. The place we spend it is called Paradise.

Is Jacko Cut Off From Family by the Nanny?

Comments 30 July 2009

Wednesday, June 22, 2005

By Roger Friedman

Is Michael Jackson doped up at home on his ranch, cut off from friends and family?

This Howard Hughes scenario has been developing in the days since this column learned that the pop star, who was recently acquitted of child molestation charges, does not yet have his passport back and cannot leave the United States.

The reason? The Santa Barbara District Attorney’s office hasn’t returned his passport.

Court papers filed on Friday show that the passport was still an issue as of Friday, June 17. Sources told me yesterday that no progress had been made.

But where is Michael? Is he hiding at Neverland?

Since his acquittal 10 days ago, Jackson has not made a statement or been seen in public. This has given rise to a number of theories, many of which center on an in-house tug-of-war between Michael’s brother Randy Jackson and the long-time Neverland nanny, Grace Rwarmba.

Rwarmba, said to be in her late 30s, started life at Neverland working in the administration office until Jackson promoted her to a nanny in 1997, when his son Prince was born.

Her influence over Jackson has increased over the years to the point where others in his family have been excluded, I’m told.

In fact, ranch insiders claim that Jackson’s woozy state during the trial and since might be due to Rwarmba possibly over-medicating the singer.

Sources tell me that Rwarmba is regularly dispensing prescription drugs to Jackson, keeping him isolated from his family and unable to make his own decisions. The situation, many claim, is dire and they would like some evidence that Jackson will rally enough to command his own crumbling empire.

More importantly, no one close to the family seems to have answers about Jackson’s exact location.

Unable to leave the country, Jackson can go few places without being recognized. He was offered a friend’s yacht to use, but even that would be hard to accept without some publicity.

The betting money is that he’s still at Neverland, which is up and running despite a cash-flow problem and fans lingering at the front gate hoping for a glimpse of the star.

But it’s the long-running power struggle over Jackson that’s keeping ranch insiders busy now that the trial is over.

“Michael is fine. He’s just taking care of himself. Nothing is wrong,” a source told me.

Those who tried to reach Jackson on Sunday, which was Father’s Day, had no luck finding him or getting past Rwarmba. Sources close to Jackson say that Rwarmba has long fantasized about being the First Lady of Neverland, and she’s working harder at it than ever before.

“The kids call her ‘mommy,’” a source said. “But Michael wouldn’t like it if he knew who else Grace has been close to at the ranch.”

Several sources confirmed for me Michael’s greatest fear: Rwarmba and Michael’s brother Jermaine Jackson had a romance for some time.

In fact, it was the two of them that brought in the controversial Nation of Islam in December 2003 after Jackson’s arrest. And even though the Nation was thought to have been purged from Jackson’s life, his bodyguards are said to be members.

Interviewing Michael Jackson: My 3 Hours with the King of Pop

Chuck Dakota Chuck Dakota

Was He Really Weird? Interviewing Michael Jackson. It’s easy to judge based on the image of a person. It’s even easier when we don’t “know” them personally. We draw conclusions based on what the popular media tells us and surprisingly it has a profound effect on us. Having been in broadcasting for over 20 years, I can attest to the power of media. If we tell you the sky is falling long enough and put enough “experts” on the air, you’re eventually going to buy into it. This is exactly what happened to Michael Joseph Jackson! After hearing all the news and seeing all the “experts” talk about the greatest entertainer of all time, I felt compelled to write about the “Man in the Mirror.” It amazes me that people can get on TV that have had NO interaction with the King of Pop and draw conclusions on who or what he was. In the summer of 2008, in a very plush section on Beverly Hills, I had a chance to sit down with Michael Jackson one on one for an exclusive interview. We’d been working on getting this interview for well over two years. To put in gently, Michael was gun shy over the media and didn’t trust them and when you look at what “we” did to him how could you blame him? We went through the seven gates of hell in order to get a one-on-one with this kind, gentle man. We had to sign waiver after waiver and when it was all said and done, the date, time and location was set. We were putting together an MJ retrospective that would be broadcast on many major radio stations across the county and around the world. We were told we would have 30 minutes with the King. Now I must admit preparing for the interview I was worried because the “Ryder” as it’s called in show business was unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Basically a “Ryder” is a list of wants, desires, dos and don’ts on behalf of the artist. After reviewing it, I thought for sure I was going to come face to face with the biggest freak of them all…. Oh how wrong I was! The “Ryder” basically said we had to be 10 feet from MJ at all times, we couldn’t touch him, we had to take our shoes off and put “booties” on our feet, we were not allowed to give him anything, we had to sanitize our hands before entering the room and the one that really got us was that we had to refer to him as “King Michael”! So imagine reading this and thinking to yourself of how you’re going to pull off a legitimate interview without coming across like an ass! The King Michael.. Get real! What’s worse, this wasn’t a joke! This was a real document that we had to sign with penalties in excess of a million dollars if we broke the “rules of engagement”! The night before the interview my entire team was talking about what it was going to be like? After all my crew were seasoned broadcast professionals. We’ve interviewed everyone from Super Bowl champs to the president and never gone through anything like this before. Needless to say we were a little worried and nervous if we were going to be able to pull it off, especially after going through all the trouble to get the interview! We were asked to be at the interview location at noon. We were given a room number and a “code” to get through security. By the way, the code… “MJJITK”. To this day we still don’t know what it means. After a twenty-minute search of our bags, briefcases and persons we were lead into a room. It was a medium-sized room with gorgeous furniture, classical music playing softly and the drapes closed tight with all the lights on. We were told “Mr. Jackson would be right in”. When the security chief told us that we were taken aback. We had just went through a security check more intense then the Secret Service gives when interviewing a president and now we’re left alone in his main sitting room waiting for the man himself. About 15 minutes into the wait, we could hear MJ talking and laughing. He was asking about one of his children and whomever he was talking to was telling him about the child running after another sibling and getting mad because they couldn’t catch up. He found that funny and the laughter that came from him was laughter from the soul. The giggling fainted off and we heard a cough and from the left side of the room which lead to the master bedroom, Michael Jackson appeared by himself dressed in black jeans, a red t-shirt, his hair perfect and very little make up. As he approached we all stood up and the first words out of his mouth was, “Hello, I’m Michael Jackson”, he voice so soft but yet with authority. After the nervous introductions he asked us where he wanted him to sit. I told him anywhere would be fine. He asked if we wanted anything and we declined and thanked him for the opportunity to have a one on one conversation and he did something that totally blew me away. He thanked me for taking the time to come and visit with him. I was floored at that moment. I knew this man wasn’t anything like the “Ryder” or the press played him to be. Before me was the most talented man in the world with a heart just as big and soul to match. We started the interview and it was a typical interview with the basic question on his career and where he’s been and where he’s going. He took his time with every answer giving honest open answers. During the interview he laughed, joked, made fun of our audio tech because he was wearing a UCLA hat and always looked me in the eye. I knew we only had thirty minutes so I set the pace and completed the interview with 4 minutes to spare. I thanked him for the interview and he asked me if I had somewhere to go. I told him we were going to see some of the sites and what come out of his mouth next shocked us all. He said that we didn’t have to rush off; he had some questions about broadcasting that he wanted to know if we could answer. The King of Pop, asking us to stay. Of course we did and our conversation went from radio stations and why they play the music they do to the promotions to our kids to his kids to his childhood, our favorite food, his favorite food and everything in between. It was like talking to a best friend that you haven’t seen in years. He was relaxed, very open, at times emotional, which in turn made us emotional because of his pure honesty over delicate subjects. About two hours into our meeting, a man walked into the room and informed MJ that he needs to wrap it up because he has another interview within the hour. He turned to the huge brick of a man and said, “They can wait, they can’t do the interview without me.” This brought us to a discussion that makes me want to slap everyone who trash talks this man and gives opinions over media reports instead of the truth. He looked down at his shoes with his legs shaking as if they were dancing in tempo and asked us if we ever felt like a prisoner? He went on to say that all of his life he never had the chance to do anything for himself; he always was made to have someone else do it. Even at 49 years old he still had the chains of his childhood bound to him in a way that prevented him from being anything other than the King of Pop. Three and half hours had passed and the whole time I was praying that our audio guy was recording every second of what is without doubt the highlight of my career. A middle-aged woman walked into the room and said, “Michael one of the children cut open a knee while playing”. His response was genuine and I’ll wait until I post the audio to let you hear it for yourself! He was truly an amazing dad that loved his kids! As we were saying our goodbyes he gave us his personal email address and asked for ours. We had some memorabilia we bought in Hollywood and asked if he would sign them. He asked were we got it and we told him we had just bought it and he said “no-no that won’t work” and called for one of his staff. He instructed the staffer to give us our money back for everything we bought and to assemble gift bags for each of us plus our spouses and children and then he signed everything we had and we said our goodbyes. As he went around the room saying goodbye I couldn’t get over how real this man was. He was grateful that we took the time to stop by. He got to me and I extended my hand a
nd then I thought of the “Ryder” and all the money I was going to have to pay if I touched him and before I could say anything he hugged me and whispered in my year that it was a great interview and thanked me for not bringing up the scandal with the allegations of sexual misconduct with a child. I had chills from the tip of my hair to my toes and just like that he was gone! Twenty minutes later a man came into the room to escort us out and he had a cart full of MJ memorable that included jackets, more signed 8×10’s, cd’s, dolls, DVD’s and so much more. 22 bags in all well worth six to seven hundred dollars apiece and then he handed each one of us an envelope that had the money we paid for the merchandise. I know this story doesn’t go into the details of what we talked about. We’re working on getting that transcribed and a link to our site so you can listen for yourself what we experienced and by the way our audio man got it all! Michael Jackson was the most real, honest, loving human being I’ve ever met. He wasn’t a monster, wasn’t a freak, didn’t look that weird, had the gentlest of souls and cared about his fellow man. When you read the transcripts or listen to the raw audio you’ll hear a man that wants to change to world and make it a better place but what he doesn’t realize is, he already has and that comes to proof in death more than life. He wasn’t anything like the media made him to be. Yes he was small and looked fragile but looking back I don’t think he could have been anything less because of the world he had to live in. The man had every move he made investigated under a microscope his entire life. He didn’t have a childhood, never had the real love of a woman of the freedom to be a man. His children were his life. If the months after the interview he would email me and I would email him and he always talked of his kids and how much they meant to him. He would talk about the tour he was planning in London and how he hoped to pull it off and if he did how it would impact his kids. He was always worried about his actions and how it would affect his children. He talked about getting in shape and how he was looking onward to getting back on stage one more time. When the news of his death went worldwide I was sad and cried like I had lost my brother. To know him was an honor. The media and what they’ve done and said about him since his death makes this interview so much more special to me. I laugh when they say the things they do because they never had the chance to know the man, not the legend but the man. I had my doubts. I didn’t believe he was “innocent.” I thought he was a freak and thought this interview was going to be the biggest cluster and a chance to say.. “yea.. He’s weird all right”.. but instead I found a angel from heaven that God gave us for a short time to open our eyes to the good in all of us and what can happen when a select few take the spotlight and twist it to make him look dark and evil when all along his wings were spread never giving up the will to fly away!

BACK IN 2002….WHY INVINCIBLE BECAME INVISIBLE….

Comments 01 July 2009

(April 16, 2002)

eur web

Making its way to press and news agencies globally via the Internet is a document that meticulously outlines a nasty legal battle between Sony Music and its most famous superstar, Michael Jackson. If the allegations mentioned in the release are true, then Sony, in a move that is unusual but not unheard of in the high stakes world of pop music, is playing hardball to wrest control of ATV Music publishing company from Jackson in retaliation for the star’s reported attempt to leave the label for which he has recorded since 1975. The circulation of the email, the origins of which we haven’t been able to trace but which contains information only insiders would be privy to, chronicles all the ways Sony has allegedly set out to keep Jackson’s Invincible CD from turning a profit and why, and appears to be a campaign designed to bring attention to Jackson’s plight. EUR contacted Epic Records, the Sony Music division/label that released Invincible, but at deadline time, we had not received a response. Below is the communique in its entirety. ======================= Today, only five months after the release of INVINCIBLE, Michael Jackson is invisible… His new album has disappeared from the charts around the world. This situation is quite unusual for the King of Pop, an artist whose albums have always been hot items in terms of promotion for at least two years after their release. Today, only five months after its release, INVINCIBLE has become invisible. It did sell an astonishing 5 million copies in less than 3 months though, a record-breaking figure in such a short time, even by Michael Jackson’s standards. But after enjoying a successful launch, Jackson’s best ever, INVINCIBLE suddenly dropped out of the charts and became yesterday’s news. What are the reasons behind the fall of INVINCIBLE? How come a successful album with a huge potential suddenly stops being promoted? THE TRUTH The reason why INVINCIBLE is no longer being promoted by Sony Music is because the record company is fighting with Michael Jackson over a financial matter. A few years ago, as an advance on payments on the forthcoming sales of INVINCIBLE, Michael Jackson negotiated a loan from Sony Music, a common transaction between artists and record companies. In order to validate the loan, Michael Jackson had to put his ownership in the ATV Music Publishing catalog (including the 251-song Beatles’ catalog) as collateral. The ATV Music catalog was bought by Michael Jackson in 1985. In 1995, it was merged with Sony Music’s Sony Music Publishing catalog to become ATV/Sony Music Publishing. When merging his ATV catalog with Sony’s, Michael Jackson pocketed a sum estimated to be 95 million dollars. Today, Sony Music is pressuring Michael Jackson to refund the loan he took from them. And they have the means to do so. The problem is that Sony Music are simultaneously preventing Michael Jackson from repaying the money he owes them by sabotaging the promotion of the INVINCIBLE album, Jackson’s main source of income to refund the loan. So far, the INVINCIBLE album has sold 5 million copies worldwide. Sony Music need to reach the 7 million copies mark before they can make money from sales of the album. As for Michael Jackson, he is recouping the outstanding cost of the recording of the album on his portion of the money generated by the sales of the album. That means he hasn’t been getting any money from INVINCIBLE up to now. In order to generate monies for Sony Music and Michael Jackson, the INVINCIBLE album needs to make sales beyond the 7 million mark. It shouldn’t be difficult for the King of Pop to reach that mark. Thriller sold 52 million copies, Bad 25, Dangerous 26 and HIStory, a double-CD, 14 million copies. However, INVINCIBLE is not selling anymore. Except in the USA, where Sony Music is not shipping more than they can sell, in other parts of the world, including European markets, Sony Music have been receiving massive returns since January. In Germany, France and the UK, Europe’s biggest markets, wholesalers are returning unsold copies of INVINCIBLE by the thousand. Indeed, nobody was expecting the promotion of the album to end so suddenly. But why would Sony sabotage an album they paid for? And Why would they put down their biggest-selling artist? Simply because they could get Michael Jackson’s half of ATV Music Publishing by doing so. If Michael Jackson fails to reimburse his loan, the ownership of his share of the ATV Music Publishing catalog will fall into the hands of Sony Music. Sony/ATV Publishing is currently the third largest music publishing company in the world. The money it generates and represents goes beyond Michael Jackson’s loan from Sony or possible revenues generated by the INVINCIBLE album. Besides, a music catalog is easier to deal with than an artist with strong opinions on how his career should be managed. Sony Music is thus trying to sabotage the INVINCIBLE album. But it is important to the record company that the maneuver be not obvious. It is essential for Sony Music that the public and media be not aware of the matter. Bad publicity is a menace they are afraid of. The goal of our association MAKE INVINCIBLE VISIBLE is to make people aware of the situation between Michael Jackson and Sony Music. As Michael Jackson fans, we have been watching helplessly the killing of the INVINCIBLE album. Until now. Unlike previous feuds between record companies and artists (Prince vs Warner, George Michael vs Sony Music, etc…), the Michael Jackson vs Sony Music situation is different in the sense that the artist wants his album to sell and is ready to promote it, but the record company isn’t. INVINCIBLE is Michael Jackson’s last album with Sony Music, despite what the record company says. This is his last album with them. Here is a chronology of facts that documents the feud between Sony Music and Michael Jackson with detailed examples. June 2001 Sony Music pick “You Rock My World” as the first single off of INVINCIBLE. Michael Jackson favored “Unbreakable” and had already started to conceive the video for the song. The last-minute change of single forces him to rush the conception of a new video to accompany “You Rock My World.” Sony Music contact director Hype Williams who comes up with a treatment for the video. Michael is not satisfied with it nor with the budget Sony propose for the video. Paul Hunter, a new director, is hired. After numerous disputes on the budget of the video, filming finally starts. August 2001 Michael Jackson is working on his forthcoming Madison Square Garden concerts. Sony Music learned the news of the events in the media. They are displeased with the fact that they are not involved with the project and decide to boycott it. Sony Music offices around the world receive a memo that forbids them to organize any kind of promotional activity in connection with the Madison Square Garden concerts. The shows will eventually be sold out and will become hugely popular TV events in the USA, despite the absence of promotion and implication from Sony Music. Moreover, Sony Music show no interest in acquiring the rights to the concerts to be used worldwide as a tool for the promotion of INVINCIBLE. As a consequence, less than five countries around the world will broadcast the concert. The fee concert producer David Gest is asking for the show is so high that even big markets like Germany, France or the UK can’t afford it. September 2001 -”You Rock My World,” the first single from INVINCIBLE is a strong radio hit in America. Billboard Magazine analysts and music industry observers predict the song could easily reach the #1 slot in Billboard’s HOT 100 provided there was a single commercially available (American charts are based on radio airplay and sales combined together). However, Sony Music repeatedly delay and postpone the commercial release of the “You Rock My World” single. Ultimately, the single will not be commercially released at all in
the USA, in spite of a strong demand from record-buying customers. To justify their decision, Sony Music claim the release of a commercial single could harm the sales of the album. But the singles market in the USA is a small one. A single like “You Rock My World” would have sold a few thousand copies, enough to gain crucial points for the Billboard charts, but not enough to harm the sales of the album. Besides, the promotional impact of a #1 single on the public is strong. Sony Music’s decision not to release the single was clearly biased. -Jay-Z, who remixed “You Rock My World” at Jackson’s request, refuses to let Sony Music use his remix on the commercial singles of “You Rock My World” worldwide because the record company refused him the right to use Jackson’s vocals on a remix of his hit song “Girls, Girls, Girls” they recorded together. -After “You Rock My World,” “Cry” is the new single released from INVINCIBLE in America. Director Nick Brandt is hired to film the video. However, from the beginning, Michael Jackson is not happy with the low-budget project Sony Music is proposing. He becomes so displeased with Sony Music’s stiffness on the video situation that he decides not to appear in the video. The video will eventually be released without his participation. October 2001 INVINCIBLE is released around the world. In the USA, the album is released with a minimum of promotion. When the album becomes a success in America despite the modest promotion, Sony Music takes credit for it by conveniently claiming the low-profile promotion was a plan to have people focus on music. November 2001 -Michael Jackson finalizes the production of “What More Can I Give,” a charity song for the families of the victims of September 11, featuring an all-star cast of singers (including Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Ricky Martin, Gloria Estefan, Britney Spears, Carlos Santana). Unfortunately, Sony Music refuse Michael the right to release it. Due to contract obligations, Michael Jackson can’t release the record with another company without Sony’s approval. Since Sony Music doesn’t want to make things easy on an artist they are in constant fight with, they use the “What More Can I Give” project to pressure him. If he wants to release it, he has to let go on more financial interests. After trying each and every legal way to release his charity single, Michael Jackson finds out he is cornered and eventually gives up the project. -”Butterflies” is the third single off of INVINCIBLE to be released to radios in America. The song becomes and instant hit and starts to climb the Billboard charts. Unfortunately, Sony Music is still not willing to release the song commercially to help it reach the #1 spot on the charts. More problems occur when the project for a “Butterflies” video is discussed by Michael Jackson and Sony Music. Once again, Michael Jackson is not satisfied with the treatment Sony Music propose him and does not want to participate in a project he doesn’t believe in. Discussions come to a deadlock and the “Butterflies” video project is scrapped. February 2002 Sony Music intensifies its financial pressure on Michael Jackson. The artist is forced to consider doing a World Tour in order to raise money to finance his other projects and the refund of his loan. However, Michael Jackson had made it clear that he didn’t want to tour anymore. Now, he’s forced to reconsider his decision. March 2002 -Three promotional TV appearances scheduled in Europe in March are canceled as a result of Michael Jackson’s feud with Sony Music. -At Sony Music’s request, director David Meyers works on a treatment for the “Unbreakable” video. However, Michael Jackson isn’t satisfied with the project. But his own concept for the video is deemed too expensive and Sony Music won’t finance it. As a result of this new dispute, Michael Jackson decides to produce the “Unbreakable” video by himself and starts to work on the project alone. -By the end of March, Sony Music delete Michael Jackson from their “international priority” list of projects. Only five months after the release of INVINCIBLE, the album is no longer considered as a “priority” by the record company. As a comparison, the HIStory album stopped being an “international priority” by the end of 1997, more than 2 years after its release. Sony Music are trying to suffocate Michael Jackson financially. They are preventing him from properly promoting his album in order to obtain his share of the ATV Music Publishing catalog. This maneuver is unfair. It is plain sabotage. INVINCIBLE is a great album. It sold faster than any other Michael Jackson album and was promised to a great future. Don’t let Sony Music bury INVINCIBLE. Spread the truth and support Michael Jackson.
